AEGEE-Istanbul is calling! The antenna that organised last year’s great EPM invites you to a relaxed cultural pre-event ahead of Spring Agora İzmir 2026. From 2 to 5 May, AEGEEans can explore Istanbul before travelling together on an exclusive AEGEE party bus to Izmir. The GT spoke with the organisers.
GT: You are organising an Agora pre-event focused on Turkish culture and history. What motivated you?
AEGEE-Istanbul: We love sharing our culture with other AEGEEans. Creating an event that makes travelling to Spring Agora İzmir 2026 easier and more sustainable felt like the perfect way to do that. At the same time, we keep our members engaged in both international and local activities.
GT: What are the programme highlights?
AEGEE-Istanbul: The huge Turkish breakfast is definitely one of them. We are also organising a boat party on the Bosphorus and, of course, our bus ride to Izmir!
GT: Istanbul is vast and historically rich. What will you focus on during sightseeing?
AEGEE-Istanbul: Since our time is limited, we will concentrate on must-see landmarks such as the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar, along with other key highlights.
GT: Programme elements like a shisha workshop and a Turkish language workshop sound quite relaxed. Is that accurate?
AEGEE-Istanbul: Yes, intentionally so. We know the Agora will be intense, so we designed the pre-event to be enjoyable without being stressful. For updates, follow our Instagram: @aegee_istanbul!
GT: You promise spectacular parties. What can participants expect?
AEGEE-Istanbul: Ask anyone that was a participant at any of AEGEE-İstanbul’s events about the parties – we think it is quite known that we know how to have fun and make sure everyone enjoys their nights. Match your expectations accordingly!
GT: The bus to Izmir – is it exclusively for AEGEE participants?
AEGEE-Istanbul: Yes. It is an AEGEE-exclusive bus so we can make every minute of the pre-Agora experience count!
GT: How many participants can join?
AEGEE-Istanbul: 45.
GT: What about accommodation?
AEGEE-Istanbul: We made sure that you will have the last chance to get your beauty sleep on actual beds in a hostel – before the Agora gym madness.
GT: Until when can people apply?
AEGEE-Istanbul: We are waiting for your applications until 23 March!
GT: And for those who cannot attend the pre-event – what else is planned for 2026?
AEGEE-Istanbul: We are already working on our Summer University. More information on that woll follow very soon!
