Are you curious what the organisers of the Top SUs of 2013 plan for 2014? The Golden Times asked the antennae, which made the ten highest-rated SUs of last year reality. In this edition we look to the west and see what the top organisers from AEGEE-Eindhoven, AEGEE-Aachen and AEGEE-Osnabrück offer you this summer.
Loek Tonnaer, AEGEE-Eindhoven
What’s the title of your SU in 2014?
A Dutch-Deutsch AdvenTSUre Vol. II
Are you organising it with another antenna?
Yes, with AEGEE-Köln. After organising with Dutch and sometimes Belgian locals for the past few years, we decided it was time for a small change. So we looked east instead!
What’s the date?
Saturday, 2nd of August, till Sunday, 17th of August. One full day extra compared to most TSUs!
What’s the main topic and the main highlights?
We decided to cover as much as possible of the differences and similarities between Dutch and German culture, and cultures in general. From the cultural, environmental and sportive aspects of cycling to German beer culture, from liberal Amsterdam and technology in Eindhoven to the differences in culture even within the Netherlands – we try to show all this from many different angles, to have a very diverse programme.
Which cities will you visit?
Next to Eindhoven and Köln, where the organising antennae are, we will visit Amsterdam, Venlo, and Bonn.
How can interested people find out more?
Of course, via the SU Project website. But also via our Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1411115759128243/ and our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/eindhovenkoeln2014. All of these are still under construction, but stay tuned!
Lida Deermann, main SU organiser of AEGEE-Aachen 2014
What’s the title of your SU in 2014?
Get trashed the green way.
Are you organising it with another antenna?
No, since we have so many ideas, we realized we need the whole two weeks to make this year’s SU green, German and absolutely resourceful!
What’s the date?
We welcome our participants from 18th of July to 2nd of August.
What’s the main topic and the main highlights?
We are maintaining our tradition of offering a German language course for the 24th year in a row! But this year we are adding to the programme the exciting world of sustainable living. We will break the rules and show Europe how funny it can be, not only to party in a “green” way, but to love our surroundings and enjoy the beauty of our nature. We will celebrate the German carnival. We get to know secret aspects of our city, Aachen. We will recreate ourselves in a new way, and find out how to manage economic, social and personal needs. Of course, we won’t fail to have a European Night, play Flunky Ball and have trips to the surrounding cities. This SU will be really beartastic.
Which cities will you visit?
Next to Aachen we will visit Cologne, Brussels and other smaller cities.

Dilek Gürsel, SU coordinator of AEGEE-Osnabrück 2014
What’s the title of your SU in 2014?
(S)Urban Explorers.
Are you organising it with another antenna?
Yes, we have a cooperation with AEGEE-Amsterdam.
What’s the date?
4th till 19th of August. The first week will take place in Osnabrück, the second week in Amsterdam.
What’s the main topic and the main highlights?
We are preparing a mix of outdoor activities and urban highlights in Germany and the Netherlands combined with local specialties, language and thematic workshops. The SU will be a combination of outdoor activities like cycling, climbing, canoeing as well as many urban highlights not only in Osnabrück and Amsterdam, but also during daily excursions to other places. The obligatory visit to a brewery in Germany is of course included and we are planning something really special here. The cooperation with Amsterdam offers the participants the possibility to experience a world famous city and all it has to offer. We will explore the urban highlights you have always heard about during the week in Amsterdam. The mixture of northern German taste and Amsterdam experience makes this SU very unique and thrilling for all the (S)Urban Explorers out there!
