This year, AEGEE-București celebrated the magic of Christmas in a truly special way. On 22 December, they spent a beautiful day at the “Alexandra” Neuropsychiatric Recovery and Rehabilitation Center in Bucharest, sharing joy and smiles with the children there.
They sang carols, played, laughed and enjoyed every moment. “Their smiles warmed our hearts, and the atmosphere became even more magical with a special visit from Santa Claus, who brought gifts and unforgettable moments,” says Ruxandra Dinache, President of AEGEE-București. Santa was played by Manuel, a new member of AEGEE-București who was previously president of AEGEE-Iași.
It was not the first time that AEGEE-București surprised the kids at Christmas. “We discovered this center last year through DGASPC Sector 1, which oversees all the children’s homes in Sector 1 of Bucharest”, recalls Ruxandra. “So we went to this center last year too, but the event was much smaller: there were only three of us. This year we were ten!”

The AEGEE members did interactive activities with the children, such as painting, magic, and singing. “And we brought them gifts with money we had collected beforehand,” adds Alexandra. The children wrote a letter to the AEGEE antenna, telling them what they wanted. “With the help of the donors, we were able to buy the children these gifts and even more.” Among the gifts were dolls, Legos, clothes, shoes, sweets, jewellery, and even a kimono.
Some money was even left, which will be used for future activities with the kids in 2026. “None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of everyone who donated and helped make the children’s gifts a reality,” concludes Ruxandra. “Thanks to all the donations, their Christmas was brighter and filled with hope!”
