Gunnar Erth (Coordinator), Carolien Nijenhuis (Secretary General), Tim Sattler (Treasurer), Rissana Shytu (Events Coordinator) and Eleonora Campione (PR/FR): this is the new Les Anciens board for the period 2011-13! The general assembly elected the new team during the Les Anciens meeting in Cyprus on 25th June. While Gunnar and Tim were re-elected and now serve their second time in the board, Carolien, Rissana and Eleonora are new. The Golden Oldie will present you the new team soon. LA coordinator Gunnar Erth thanked the now former board members Wiebke Hahn (Secretary General), Susanna Ritala (Events) and Jens-Erik Weber (IT). “They did a great job and showed lots of dedication. We are happy that they will support our alumni association and our board also in the future.”

The moral report and the financial report were approved by acclamation. “We are taking the election results for our board and the unanimous approval of our past work as a strong sign of confidence for the next two years,” Gunnar said.In the past year the number of members increased from 538 to 610. By the most important decision of the assembly, the financial support of Les Anciens for AEGEE-Europe was increased. As a consequence, Les Anciens will be able to help AEGEE better in the coming 12 months.

70 participants attended the three-day Les Anciens meeting in Kyrenia region, which started on Friday, 24th June and concluded on Sunday. “We are extremely happy to have everyone here,” said main organiser Kemal Degirmencioglu. Together with his team members Umut, Sander and Ibo he managed to create an excellent programme with many excursions, such as to the Krenia castle with its shipwreck museum and the castle dungeons on Friday, a visit to the Near East University, a Nicosia city tour and dinner at the Buffer Zone of Cyprus on Saturday. A yacht tour and a visit to Bellapais Abbey on Sunday concluded the programme in 35 degrees hot sunny weather. However, the event will be followed by a three-day post event that many participants will attend.
